Mesha White is the author of “Girl Fight!” and the founder of Girl Fight LLC, an organization dedicated to empowering girls and women to advocate for their futures and embrace their unique gifts. Since 2017, she has been building Girl Fight with the goal of inspiring women and girls to pursue their aspirations and realize their full potential.
Born in Oberlin, Ohio, and the youngest of six, Mesha faced significant challenges early in life, including the loss of her father just before her sixth birthday. This tragedy led to years of grief that impacted her academics, resulting in her retention in fifth grade. To cope, she turned to music, creating and freestyling as an outlet. Mesha learned the value of hard work from her mother, whose unwavering work ethic instilled in her the importance of perseverance and determination.
A transformative shift in mindset occurred between eighth and ninth grade when she was inspired by “The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens.” This change propelled her to excel academically and musically, allowing her to perform, headline shows, and host a radio show during high school. Mesha set an ambitious goal to graduate from high school in three years, and she successfully achieved it.
At Bennett College, Mesha further refined her leadership skills through various leadership roles, including serving as president of the student government association. Her study abroad experience in Ghana and internship with US Congressman Mel Watt, where she received the Congressional Outstanding Service Award, deepened her commitment to service. She then worked with a U.S. senator from North Carolina, focusing on veterans’ affairs and the Department of Defense.
Mesha’s career took an inspiring turn with Teach for America, teaching in the KIPP school system in Houston, Texas, and later serving as the director of school culture in Chicago. After returning to KIPP Houston as assistant principal for five years, she accepted a leadership position supporting ELA teachers at another charter school. Within four months, she was promoted to principal, leading the school to improve from an F to a B in just two years alongside her team.
Throughout her journey, Mesha has cultivated exceptional skills in leading others, coaching for success, and driving results. As a certified health and life coach, she has launched initiatives that empower women and girls, helping them unlock their potential and thrive. When hiring her for workshops, coaching, or leadership, clients can expect a dedicated partner who fosters a positive environment where everyone feels seen and heard. Mesha is passionate about equipping individuals with the strategies and insights they need to succeed and flourish in their personal and professional lives.

I am a retired Navy Chief, having proudly served more than 20 years in the military. I initially joined the Navy seeking an escape from my challenging home life and in pursuit of opportunities for a better future. During my career, I faced numerous obstacles as I navigated a workplace that was not always conducive to the success of women. Although my career brought achievements, it also came with sacrifices: limited time spent with my family, overcrowded classrooms, and underperforming schools for my children. I was constantly faced with difficult decisions—choosing between advancing my career or prioritizing my family. Work-life balance was never a consideration, and progression in rank demanded far more effort and dedication than was expected of many of my peers.
Following my military service, I transitioned to the telecommunications industry, where I spent another two decades. While the challenges mirrored those I experienced on active duty, my military background equipped me with the ability to thrive in diverse environments. I pushed myself to study harder, work smarter, and persist through adversity. Despite the isolation of having few friends or mentors, I relied heavily on my faith to guide me.
In life, we all face challenges and must make choices—to remain in our comfort zone or to overcome obstacles and propel ourselves forward. It is how we confront these challenges that determines whether we move to the next level or remain in the valley, dealing with the consequences of our actions.
With this in mind, “Girl Fight” is a rallying cry aimed at empowering young girls and women by fostering a sense of community. It is a movement that encourages us to listen, learn, uplift, and support one another. The Girl Fight guide and journal serve as invaluable resources, providing a safe space to express our emotions, capture our thoughts, and set goals that inspire us to achieve our fullest potential.
